In conformity with the provisions stipulated under the Laws of Brunei Darussalam, Chapter 183 Halal Meat Act and also the Constitution of Brunei Darussalam - Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order 2005 in which “Halal” imported meat must originate from abattoirs and processing plants which have been approved by Brunei Darussalam's authorities as “Halal”. Importation of these products must also be complied to the Veterinary Requirement as stipulated by Department of Agriculture from time to time and in accordance to the provisions stipulated under the Laws of Brunei Darussalam, Chapter 47 Quarantine and Prevention Disease, Section 91 and 92 Quarantine and Prevention of Disease (Animals) Regulations.
Every consignment of any of these products shall be accompanied by a Veterinary Health Certificate issued by Competent Authority / Authorised Veterinarian of exporting country. The certificate must be obtained by the consignor not more than fourteen days prior to the dispatch and shall accompany the consignments.
To prevent the introduction of exotic animal diseases and disease agents into Brunei Darussalam and in line with the international regulations that allow national authority to prohibit, restrict or regulate the movement of animals and its products. Except for the non-halal meat/products (pig/pork and swine products), which does not require the 'halal' requirement but need to comply with the provisions under Chapter 47 of the Laws of Brunei Darussalam.
